Performance Carry

This two-day training is Mike’s signature course.

It is a fast-paced course designed to give attendees not only the technical, but the practical understanding of the effective employment of their pistol from a covert concealed location. The metric of evaluation is the MEC (Marksmanship Evaluation Course) as found on the website.

 This course is based upon:

• training Mike received while a member of the 1st SFOD-D

• training and instruction he provided to the Federal Air Marshal Service (while serving as the Head Range Instructor at the F.A.M.S. School) and as the Chief In-Service Instructor at the Seattle Field Office of the F.A.M.S.

• training he taught and utilized during protection operations in Iraq

• training he refined for a course he taught to high-level U.S. Special Operations assets prior to high threat deployments involving covert operations.

The goals of this course:

• to safely make the student an extremely competent legal concealed pistol carrier (civilian, law enforcement or military)

• provide a foundation of drills and concepts for the student to maintain his/her skills at their own range.

This course is geared toward all civilian, law enforcement and military personnel involved in detective work, undercover operations, covert surveillance operations, V.I.P. protection details, as well as every day off-duty or legally permitted carry.

Performance Carry is the next evolution of the CTT-Solutions Covert Carry Course taught over the last 6 years. The new curriculum puts a premium on movement in the form of turns and traditional shooting while moving. There will also be an emphasis on multiple targets with extremely challenging target areas and strict accountability of marksmanship, all while putting a heavy emphasis on high performance gun handling skills from concealment.

The Performance Carry Course is different. It has progressively difficult marksmanship challenges that require you to execute what we call “Marksmanship in application, not in isolation ©”. By putting a premium on movement at the draw, shooters will increase their skill at rapidly accessing and applying a firearm with high levels of accuracy, while moving. All courses of fire will begin facing away from the target, require movement, and include low percentage shots and no shoot targets. Distances will be from 7-25 yards with 90% at 10-25yds.

The use of a firearm for defensive purposes is rarely done from a static position, braced, waiting for a 3 second delay, and with the garment you specifically picked because it’s the easiest one to clear. We change all the above but the garment. As for the garment, we highly encourage bringing several different ones, so the shooter can learn how to work beyond any clothing limitations.

Micro Carry

What is it? The course is specifically intended to address the needs of shooters who own and carry micro compact guns. This is not for standard compact pistols based on full-size frames like a Glock19.

Why was it created? The number of pistols in this category sold nationwide to the retail public is staggeringly high and yet it’s extraordinarily rare to see someone training with one. Micro Compact guns in polymer, striker fired format are the best-selling polymer guns of several of the largest handgun manufacturers.

What is the value to those attending? We have a structured course based on over 10,000 rounds of curriculum development shooting experience with the different models. This course helps the end user avoid most of the learning curve that we have already experienced to help you understand the peculiarities and specific challenges of the smaller frame guns. The instruction will include drills and strategies to take with you and continue your personal training at your home range.

Pistol Mounted Optics

Adaptable to civilians or LE, The CTT-Solutions PMO Course (CA POST approved) is an aggressive 2-day immersion into use of a Pistol Mounted Optic.

This course does not require that the student be an experienced PMO shooter, but it does require that they be an overall experienced and competent shooter. The course is very heavy on repetition and places an extreme premium on correct technique.

*** The primary intention of this course is to leave you with useful skills and quantifiable gains in performance that are repeatable on demand under stress. ***

Topics include but are not limited to:

1. Benefits and drawbacks of PMO over Iron sights

2. PMO types and selection

3. Benefits of different reticle designs and dot dimensions

4. Proper draw and presentation

5. Proper vision strategies

6. Use with multiple targets

7. Down optic drills

a. Inoperable (battery issue or broken circuitry)

b. Window degraded (foreign debris or cracked lens)

c. Occluded optic (filled with foreign substance that cannot be immediately dislodged

Street and Vehicle Tactics

2-day pistol and/or carbine is an extremely fast-paced course combining much of the individual 2-day pistol and 2-day carbine courses, combined with hard-earned experience running motorized PSD in the heart of the Sunni Triangle during 2003-’04, as well as motorized combat operations in Al Anbar province in 2005. The pace of training will be dictated by the level of experience, but it is highly recommended that an well established instructor taught pistol or carbine course has been taken previous to attending. It will deal extensively with encounters during entry and exit from vehicles as well as strategies for getting from your vehicle with all occupants and moving to a safer and more tenable position.

Performance Pistol Optics

This optics-based course is a combination and an evolution of the previous action pistol and LE pistol courses taught by CTT-Solutions. The curriculum puts a premium on proven shooting, and movement techniques, and employs applicable drills to demonstrate and refine those skills.

It is a movement-based course so nearly all the shooting will be executed with a minimum of 90° turns and most drills will involve multiple movement and setup stages. The gun handling and marksmanship  requirements will be challenging, by using timers, distance, target availability and movement to exercise, explore and refine high performance shooting skills.

It is sport shooting based and since combative shooting and sport shooting are essentially the same skillsets, just with different applications, the LE/civilian blend makes it even more beneficial for both LE and civilians attending.

At specified times during the course, you will be highly encouraged to go at an exploratory pace to see your true capabilities, at true maximum speed. That concept will be explained in detail and demonstrated.

This is an intermediate to advanced level course. Load, reload, malfunctions and moving with a firearm safely are a must.
